My friend got pregnant and wants nothing to do with her child. She and I both agree that the child should be adopted by me. My husband and I are of very modest means but its enough to take care of a child. I was wondering if it would be an option for us to be the foster parents of the child and then adopt him/her from the system?

We are considering maybe beginning to do foster care for infants/toddlers. I know the legal process/classes you have to go through, but as I don’t have kids I don’t have any of the items you would need to take care of children of this age group. We are planning to take up to four year olds, both boys and girls. Just one at a time. What is a general list of stuff that we should purchase in order to take care of this age group?
